The hull terminates at the rear into a flattened section looking more like a surf ski than the familiar racing K1 shape. The result has a surprisingly stable effect with enhanced wash riding ability. The surf ski rear hull shape allows the paddler to take advantage of rolling wave effects and to literally surf away from the competition. To achieve the full effects of this new hull shape the paddler is encouraged to keep his or her blades as vertical as possible whilst paddling.
